Trying to imagine the first impressions that Erik Brock must have had of McLeod Media Owner and Director Will Frampton around 2011 or 2012 probably goes something like this:
Erik is sitting at his desk in the graphics design room at CBS in Atlanta, around 2:30 or 3 p.m. on any given weekday. The door swings open, and in bounces a tall, lanky, and floppy-haired guy — day after day. Will, who usually edited on deadline in the room next door, was notorious for waiting until the last minute to request graphics and animations for his daily edits.
“I remember when he was new to the TV station,” Erik recalls. “I made a lot of maps for him, and he would come to me for most of his graphics. We formed a great working relationship because we just got each other. He was clear on what he needed and very organized.”

Unique spirit and determination
The recurring ask for these last-minute graphics might wear thin on many designers over a few months – let alone six years. But Erik always seemed cool and jovial, unfazed by the fast-approaching deadlines.
As Will crashed out those final edits with minutes to spare, he’d look in the shared graphics folder and find the precious ingredients he needed to complete the report. Those graphics were clean, visually appealing, and perfectly aligned with the needs of the story.
Erik delivered, time and again.
When the day was done, Erik and Will often lingered in the graphics design room to decompress from the daily grind of TV news. A friendship and partnership were forged in the fire drill of broadcast deadlines.
“Will would come into my cave, and we’d talk about his plans for the future – starting his own business,” Erik remembers. “We talked about what that would look like, what he’d need from me, and how to grow it.”
Erik Brock spent nearly 20 years delivering graphics for TV broadcasts and has since gone on to produce at a high level for other organizations. His unique spirit and determination, shaped by the demanding world of broadcasting, continue to drive his work today.
‘It just works’
“Will is a patient man,” Erik reflects. “I’ve never heard him speak poorly of anyone. He’s a good family man with a kind heart and a knack for putting people at ease. Professionally, he has incredible hustle and work ethic. For clients, he’ll fly around the world – and he has – to meet their needs. He’ll show up with a camera in hand and a full crew if that’s what it takes. Whatever his clients need, he’s on a plane, and he’s there.”
“I know his aesthetic, and I always make myself available to him, even when I’m stacked with projects, because I appreciate the professional relationship. It just works.”
Since its inception in 2013, McLeod Media has featured the graphics artistry of Erik Brock in its productions.
